Irish Flame Beech End Grain Chopping Board — Single Slab, Large

€290.00

An end grain board cut from a single board of Irish flame beech off the Bredin estate at Clooncallow, Ballymahon, with one side of it heavily spalted. Because it all came from one piece of timber, the figure runs continuously across the face — the flame on one side giving way to dark branching spalt lines on the other. Spalting forms naturally in the timber as it lies, and no two pieces are ever the same.

The grain is selected and orientated so that transition carries across the whole board. Treated with a food-safe finishing oil.

A board at 460 × 270 × 60mm and 5.2kg, built from hard, durable timber that will give a lifetime of use with the proper care and attention. End grain construction is easier on knives than a conventional board and more forgiving over years of use. A genuinely once-off piece, it would make a wonderful gift for a wedding or special birthday.
